Prof. Cagatay Basdogan and his students (Enes Selman Ege and Furkan Cetin) won the first prize for their “Vibrating Steering Wheel” project in “R&D Project Market and Design Competation for Automative Sector”, organized by the Automative Industry Exporters’ Union and supported by Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Economy and Turkish Exporters Assembly. The system, which became news in popular New Scientist magazine aims to reduce the navigation errors by displaying the GPS-based navigation commands through vibration motors embedded into the steering wheel of a car.

Our research project was selected to participate “Success Stories Sharing Days” event organized by TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye)

TÜBITAK invited the owners of 150 projects to share their success stories on April 20, 2011 in Ankara and on April 22, 2011 in Istanbul. These projects were selected among 6000 projects funded by TÜBİTAK and started and completed between the years 2005-2010. The events were honored by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Aydin, state minister for Science and Technology. Our research project, entitled as “Characterization of Soft tissue Material Properties Using a Robotic Indenter and Their Integration into Surgical Simulators”, was selected by TÜBİTAK to participate to the event.
